There’s a First Quarter Moon in Scorpio this Friday

Edited by Gemma

The first quarter Moon this Friday will land on the 5th of August at 13°01’ of Scorpio. Whilst so much about the chart of this first quarter Moon seems to illustrate review and re-assessment, there are also elements which stand out to me as relating to connections with the past and the creation of second chances. This is because whilst there is a lot of retrograde energy amongst the planets at this time (not to mention Uranus is preparing to station retrograde later in the month), the Moon will also be in conjunction with her South Node.

There could be a lot of shifts and changes in both family and romance relationships, while at the same time a deep need for truth and compassion, however difficult these may be to experience. The general signature for self-development looks to be unfolding in a matter-of-fact type of energy, begging us to simply get on with it, whilst that for idealism and romance is transformative, regenerative and idealistic. Meaningful shifts may be afoot, especially with the Mars-Uranus-North Node conjunction still in effect. Read on to find out more.

The Moon will be in Fixed Scorpio

With the Moon in the fixed, water sign of Scorpio and the Sun in fixed, fire sign of Leo, there is of course an abundance of fixed energy (taking into account the trio of positions in Taurus too) so this suggests a highlighting of very personal, emotional issues in both relationships and our identities within relationships that have been unfolding throughout the year, eventually to be readdressed during these retrograde periods. The Sun and the Moon will both be at 13°01’ of their respective signs, so if you have any planets around the middle degrees of any of the fixed signs (between 11° and 15° of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius), this quarter Moon could specifically highlight certain parts of your natal chart with potency in its activation.

The Scorpio Moon will oppose Uranus and Mars

Over the past week, we have seen some intense and dynamic alignments occurring with the conjunction between Mars, Uranus and the Moon’s North Node closing in on the 31st of July and the 1st of August. This brought Mars and Uranus into a powerful position for them to share their supercharged firecracker energy with the world. This in itself can create many changes. Now with the Scorpio Moon applying in an opposition with Uranus and Mars, emotions could be tense this Friday with an edge of frustration and possibly even anger. It’s important to practice mindfulness at this time. Having said this, the Sun will now form the crux of a T-Square with these whilst Saturn concurrently takes some of the heat from the opposite side in Aquarius. This means that being true to ourselves and our identities whilst following a structured, cautious path at this time will most likely work in our favour. Slow and steady wins the race!

The Moon conjoins the South Node

The South Node of the Moon is a very karmic point for us all, collectively, so when any planet or light forms a conjunction with it, we have quite a significant alignment. Perhaps with the Moon in Scorpio forming a conjunction with this point, we have some important lessons to learn regarding our own psychoanalysis and nurturing. Moon in Scorpio does have a tendency towards extremes so perhaps we will be collectively challenged to find some ways of balancing our innermost selves amidst the chaos that surrounds us in everyday life.

Mars will Square Saturn

Mars will be in a square alignment with Saturn and this can sometimes have us feeling as though everyday life just isn’t working out quite the way we plan for it to, regardless of how much effort we put into our goals. Sometimes, it can seem as though life or other circumstances are simply getting in the way. At the same time, we do tend to have high amounts of self-control during times like these, so whatever our practical and material goals are, especially those we hold over the long term, we are likely to stick to them without falter. Therefore there is likely to be some progress!

Venus will oppose Pluto

The opposition aspect in astrology creates something of a tug-of-war effect between two planets which happen to be in opposing positions, therefore this can mean that a balance will inevitably be sought out between them. Although not quite as tense as the square aspect, the opposition aspect does hold quite a lot of tension and with both Venus and Pluto taking the opposing sides, we may find ourselves having to balance graciousness both in our love lives and our social lives with our deepest desires and insecurities. We might therefore find ourselves questioning why we desire the things we do and whether pursuing these will create an imbalance in our lives or bring us and others into a deeper sense of fulfilment. This tension will be smoothed over a little by Neptune, who forms an easy-flowing trine with Venus, bringing us a heightened sense of compassion and idealism in love.
