There’s a New Moon in Leo this Thursday, the 28th of July

Edited by Gemma

The New Moon this month will occur at 18:55 pm, at 05°38’ of Leo. It seems that this coming New Moon will be high in energy, but there will also be a lot of tensions resulting from some of the square aspects of the lunation. There is a good chance there will be a lot of focus on psychological and emotional health, so with the concurrent tensions at this time it will be important to practise some mindfulness and calming activities throughout the week. With three outer planets already in retrograde motion (Saturn, Neptune and Pluto), Jupiter will join this group with his retrogradation kicking in on the same day as the New Moon, within the space of just three hours of it. Read on to learn more about the coming New Moon.

The New Moon Lands in Leo

With the New Moon this month landing at 05°38’ of Leo, the general mood will no doubt be warm and receptive. The Moon in Leo tends to go all in and big with the emotions and the Sun in Leo is as gregarious as they come, shining his life-giving rays in his comfortable, lustrous domicile. Leo is a fixed fire sign, so there may not be too many shifts or turns at the time of this New Moon, especially with Mars also in a fixed sign (in Taurus), but the flames of passion are likely to burn throughout the week to encourage us further towards all our endeavours.

Mercury will square Mars, Uranus and the North Node

Mercury will be at 18°22’ of Leo and with Mars, Uranus and the North Node, all within three degrees of one-another in Taurus (15°, 18° and 19° respectively), their cluster will form a very neat trine to Mercury in this chart. Whilst Taurus is quite a reserved sign, Leo tends to be more expressive and outgoing in its nature and whilst both Mars and Mercury are both all about their outward expression, it appears there will be quite some tensions with this alignment which could be centred around whether to express certain desires and thoughts or whether to keep it low-key. This could especially ring true with Mercury opposing Saturn, because Saturn tends to have a cautioning or silencing effect on the voice when in a hard aspect with Mercury.

Mars will conjoin Uranus

At the same time, Mars will be closing in on a conjunction with Uranus. These planets together are often thought of as being quite volatile in essence because Uranus can act as a propellent to Mars’ aggressive or fiery nature. This is why it’s always a good idea to take care around the times of a Mars to Uranus conjunction, especially if doing anything particularly risky, operating large vehicles or driving long and short distances. The Mars to Uranus conjunction will also form the crux of a T-square shape, increasing the tension and energies towards them even further.

The New Moon will trine Jupiter

Thankfully, the New Moon will be forming a beautiful trine aspect to Jupiter on Thursday. With Jupiter at 08°43’ of Aries there will be an orb of just approximately 3 minutes apart between them, offering us heaps of luck and positivity. It appears this will become our saving grace at this time and we may feel as though we need it by the time of the New Moon after experiencing all the tensions building from Mars, Uranus and Saturn throughout the beginning of the week.

Venus will sextile Mars

Venus will be in a sextile aspect with Mars too, as Venus will by this time be at 12°55’ of Cancer and Mars will be at 15°57’ of Taurus. This can very much potentially act as another saving grace aspect as Venus can have a tendency to smooth out some of the harsh edges of Mars. On top of this, Mars’ energy will be disposed to Venus, as Venus rules Taurus, the sign Mars is in.

Mercury will trine Chiron

Mercury will be forming a trine aspect with Chiron, so our psychological and emotional well-being could be on our minds a lot this week. There will no doubt be opportunities to address some of our old wounds and traumas that we have yet to heal from, whether these are originating from our past lives or our early childhood years. This looks to be a very positive trine and all connections and communications regarding healing, old wounds and even paying it all forward to heal others will be beautifully supported.

More about Thursday’s New Moon in Cancer

Venus will square Chiron

Whilst there will likely be some positive psychological steps towards healing old wounds, there could also be some tensions surrounding wounds relating to traumas that have been carried throughout life leading to troubles in romantic relationships. This specifically is likely to cause some tensions and stress for some of us and it may take just a little longer to address these specifically, so we may have to be patient for a time when these can be released in good flow. Jupiter will then station Retrograde just 3 hours after the New Moon, so many of us may begin to prefer our solitude as we review life’s bigger picture and how we can expand moving forwards. Jupiter will retrograde until the 23rd of November.
