The Last Quarter Moon is this Wednesday, the 20th of July

Edited by Gemma

This coming last quarter Moon will take place on Wednesday the 20th of July at 20 past 3 in the afternoon in the UK. This week, the greatest theme will be changes and transformation and then some more change, with both Uranus and Pluto in prominent positions as they are strengthened by both the luminaries and the nodal axis.

This last quarter Moon will be quite a tense and emotional time for many of us, yet it’s also one where we might be more inclined to reach out to our friends and our loved ones for support and validation. Social life might receive a boost, especially in the hot weather we have this week in the UK and all things to do with psychological well-being and communications will receive a boost. Read on to find out more.

The Sun and Moon in Cancer and Aries

Both the Sun and the Moon will be in cardinal signs during the coming last quarter Moon and they will fall 27°51’ Aries (the Moon) and 27°51’ Cancer (the Sun). This means their relationship is built on a cardinal square, so this tense formation could see many of us making moves that are seemingly spontaneous or unpredictable in nature. It just so happens that the cardinal signs are the signs of action and response, so a desire to fix anything that doesn’t seem quite right or do something practical to help navigate a difficult situation is likely to be there. The square is also a marker of unrest leading to action of some sort, because where there are squares, there are usually changes being made.

The Sun will oppose Pluto

Another marker of change will be the Sun in opposition with Pluto. Our light that relates us to our core identities and personalities will be in a super-sensitive balancing act with planet of power and transformational changes, Pluto. This provides us with formidable strength and will-power, yet with a strong desire to create shifts at a core level so that we can progress freely throughout life as we were born to. It is also true that often-times any resistance to necessary change whilst Pluto is in such a dynamic position in a chart will only make a situation even more difficult than it was previously, so acceptance of this is usually necessary to get us to where we need to be going. We may therefore have to allow ourselves to experience vulnerability to some degree, however difficult this is, because our greatest strength has a tendency to lie in our open vulnerability wherever Pluto is concerned. To some degree, we have to trust in the divine order of things.

The Moon will Square the Sun – Pluto Opposition

The Moon at 27°51’ Aries will form a square to the Sun – Pluto Opposition, so the three will together create a T-square alignment. With the Moon at the focal crux of this alignment, we can expect a highly emotional and possibly even impulsive vibrational signature to energise us all. Aries is known to be quite impulsive and it is definitely a fiery sign, while the Moon can sway this way and that, as it tries to navigate its way through situations under pressure. At the same time, Pluto in his neat square from Capricorn could bring with it a need for emotional control and privacy, meaning this Aries energy could be simmering under the surface yet hesitating to act.

Mercury will Conjoin the Sun

Mercury will still be conjoining the Sun, however this time he will have entered into the fixed fire sign Leo and at the last quarter Moon will be at 02°14’ of the sign. Mercury in Leo is generally expressive whilst bold and daring in communication style, often even sculpting sentences to create and impact upon their audience. The style is to shock or deliver in a quantity that provides justice to the source of inspiration within. Mercury’s conjunction with the Sun is likely to tease this flavour out in our communication styles even further as the Sun is Leo’s ruling planet. As an addition to this, some extra fire will be heating us up as Mercury moves towards an applying trine with Jupiter, currently at 08°36’ of Aries. Further strengthening Mercury are his opposition with Pluto and his square with the Moon. For this reason we can be sure that whatever is discussed this week it is likely to also be meaningful and close to our hearts.

Neptune will Trine the Sun

Neptune’s trine to the Sun will soften our perspectives on not just the world around us, but on ourselves too. Perhaps it’s essential we can perceive certain things with a sprinkle of idealism and appreciation during such a tense alignment between the Sun Pluto. Actually, because Neptune trines the Sun whilst sextiling Pluto, this can serve as a release point to the balancing act between the two in opposition.

Venus will Square Jupiter

Venus’ square to Jupiter is a fortunate aspect when it comes to making friends and going out, especially when this is to mix with others who hold similar spiritual beliefs and views on the world and spirituality. Jupiter brings some buoyancy and positive energy to our romance sectors too.
