The First Quarter Moon is in Cancer this Saturday

Edited by Gemma

We will see our first quarter Moon this month at 19°24’ of the sign of Cancer on Saturday the 9th of April. During this lunar cycle, it seems that many realisations will be made about how to move forwards with the energetic themes that have been playing out for us over the past few months. Times have been tense as we’ve been intensely focussed on particular developments, yet now this tension is gradually beginning to ease as our minds are opened up to new possibilities and ventures that will take us into the rest of the year. We may now begin to see with greater clarity how the coming months are most likely to unfold.

With the Moon in cardinal water sign, Cancer, we may become more aware of our emotional climate during the coming first quarter Moon, with a desire to act upon this in ways that we know will take us to a suitably more secure and comfortable place moving forwards. We may see that we have a natural insight and intuition in achieving this, as unconsciously we are geared towards ultimately creating the best environment for our release and reaping of spiritual rewards by the time of the Full Moon. Also, this is a continuation of the deeply healing journey we set out on at the time of the New Moon, so this release will be important to us in terms of past trauma and a renewal of identity.

The Cancer Moon will trine Neptune and Jupiter

This Cancer Moon will trine the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction, which will be only three days away from their exact conjunction. This is also significant in terms of our healing journey, because Jupiter and Neptune here will offer even greater insight and wisdom to an already intuitive Cancer Moon. Whilst this is about moving forwards on our emotional journeys, it’s also to some degree about letting go of restraint and accepting those things in life we have no control over. Whilst our imaginations may be especially rich and active at this time, we are also offered the worldly wisdom of Jupiter as a component of the planetary soup to help us in our quest to understanding what this means for us in the bigger picture on our spiritual journeys.

Feeling many things acutely with this configuration and with Mars now moving away from the clutches of Saturn, it may seem as though we are losing the same control we’ve had over our lives previously at times, but perhaps there will be something to be learned from this. Perhaps there is something we need to change that we hadn’t previously recognised.

The Sun will Conjoin Pallas

Our identities will be highlighted with the Sun in Aries at this time and now, during the first quarter Moon of April, the Sun will be in a close conjunction with Pallas. Pallas is the asteroid in astrology who is the divine feminine warrior, daughter of Jupiter and a Goddess of intellect and warcraft. This means our identities will be closely aligned with the strength she represents or the controlled style of demeanour that is so often associated with the Goddess Pallas. With the Sun in Aries, our cardinal fire sign, there is a forward propulsion of effort that is hinted towards, which is likely to encourage us to lift off passionately with no holding back. However, with Pallas close by, discipline is in abundance and the usually raw energies of Aries are given structure and the power of purpose and identity that Aries so often craves.

Mercury will Square Pluto

With Mercury’s applying square to Pluto in Capricorn, this is an intense first quarter Moon in which many nuances and details may need to be addressed, especially in business and work-related matters. Having said this, with Mercury’s position in Aries, there may be a tendency to skip over much of what needs to be done, in favour of steaming onwards towards the end result. With Jupiter applying in a conjunction to Neptune, perhaps some daydreaming will be the cause of us skipping over details and instead we may find ourselves analysing or picking apart the details of something that was never really our intention in the first place. There may also be a greater desire for power with this aspect and some of us may seek to experience this through the power in our voice, our words, our written language or in other forms of communication.

Uranus will oppose Hygeia

Health will come into focus as Uranus will be in opposition with Hygeia at the time of the third quarter Moon. As the higher octave of Mercury, Uranus represents new ideas and often completely new ways of approaching certain aspects of our lives, so new diets and health routines have a lot of potential at this time. Some of us may find that ourselves or the people around us begin a new routine that is either radical or out of the blue.
Uranus in Taurus opposite Hygeia may also coincide with new health foods on the market. We may not expect some of the changes we see around us right now and, with Uranus in detriment in Taurus, we may find some of them to be downright bizarre in their intent and presentation.
