The Secondary Progressed Moon through the Houses
Edited by Gemma
The secondary progressed chart is a unique predictive tool that’s most commonly used in addition to the natal chart and the transit charts. The Moon is typically the most important planet to track in the progressed chart, not only because it’s often used to determine the psychological climate of the client’s world, but also because the progressed Lunar Cycle can mark major turning points in the life of the native.
The progressed chart is dynamic; it’s always moving forwards like an astrological clock, only at a much slower rate. It’s calculated by progressing the client’s birth date and time forwards by one day for each year of their life. Then for each month, the progression is approximately two hours and for each day, around four minutes. Read on to discover the meaning of the progressed Moon through each house.
1st House
The things people do tend to become much more visible to the world when their Moon is in their 1st progressed house, which comes after a period of being hidden away when it’s in their 12th. Personal growth is also one of the main focuses here. There’s usually more attention given to looks, health and physical appearance in general.
2nd House
The 2nd house is the house of rewards and personal finances, so the growth and visibility that has been worked towards when the progressed Moon was in the 1st house may now have a way of bringing rewards and greater comfort in life. Otherwise, if bad decisions through impulsivity were made, now may be a time of financial reparation.
3rd House
When the progressed Moon is in the 3rd house, we may find we are feeling much more restless and sociable than we were previously. We may also desire to share ideas and communicate, especially with our neighbours and our siblings. New ways of moving between places, short trips and taking new academic classes are also highly possible.
4th House
Anything relating to home and the family are of major importance now and many people encounter changes relating to these at this time. Changes such as a move in home location, the birth of children and shifts in relationships with the mother or older female figures are also likely. Family gatherings may also become more frequent.
5th House
Art and it’s use for emotional expression are a major theme relating to the Moon’s progression through the 5th house. It’s often a time when fun and leisurely activities arise in abundance. This could also be a time to begin new romantic relationships or when there’s a renewed sense of romance within established relationships.
6th House
Whether you’ve had children in the past 5 years or spent time securing your home and working on your artistic talents, now will be a time when you will be working harder each day to achieve something really substantial. This may be work relating to your craft or hard work towards bringing up your children with daily tasks around the home.
7th House
This period will be all about your relationships with others, whether this will be working with them or about forming a partnership or physical romantic union. The focus will be with one on one relationships. They can be good or bad relationships, but you will ultimately learn much more about yourself through others during this time.
8th House
This is a time when you will be called to allow major shifts and changes into your life, which will ultimately lead to greater satisfaction and life improvement. Relationships may change, begin or end and your financial interactions with others will transform. Legal issues around money will also become a focus.
9th House
Following all the big changes after Moon through the 8th house, your life will now begin to expand in many ways, as exploration and meeting new people from abroad may come into focus. You may wonder what you believe to be true as the Moon moves further towards your progressed MC. You may also take on higher academic subjects.
10th House
The Moon’s movement tends to bring about changes and here, we may find that changes to our public persona happen much more often. We might graduate from the academic school we entered with the Moon in the 9th house or we may become married or divorced. Promotions or job changes are also very common at this time.
11th House
Changes in your public life have perhaps led to a strong need for you to now take on new challenges in life that entail a lot of group participation or community efforts. You may have a lot to share with others due to changes in your career or you may find you meet a whole new set of friends more suited to your current achievements or interests.
12th House
This will also become a very creative time for you, only this time your creativity is likely to flourish behind closed doors or in a space where you sit privately. This is often a time of social rest and recuperation, when you can recharge your batteries and deeply heal from all the goings on since the Moon last hit your progressed Ascendant.
