The Third Quarter Moon is in Capricorn this Friday
Edited by Gemma
The third quarter Moon in Capricorn on the 25th of March will occur while the Sun is in Aries and the Moon is in Capricorn. These two signs are of cardinal modality, so this quarter Moon is all about moving onwards and finalising the release of all we’ve accumulated during the lunar cycle that’s just passed. While the Full Moon period around the 18th of March coincided with an explosion of energies that had been building since the New Moon in Pisces back on the 2nd of March, time since then has allowed for a gradual calming and dying down along with the aftermath of the explosion.
Now, it’s time to finish releasing these energies so we can make way for what the next lunar cycle has to offer. As we do this, there will be a simultaneous shift in concentration and a time of preparation as we instinctively make all the changes we need to make in order to allow for these subtle changes into our lives. All of this will bring us into perfect alignment energetically with the next New Moon on the 1st of April.
The Sun and Moon in Aries and Capricorn
With the Sun at 04°33’ Aries and the Moon at 04°33’ Capricorn, the Sun is in exaltation while the Moon is in detriment. This definitely makes for a case of a more expressive Sun, yet interestingly we can see the Moon applying in a trine to Uranus as the Sun applies towards a conjunction with Chiron. The Moon in Capricorn whilst increasing in the facilitation of Uranus’ energy speaks to me about the objectification of emotions with the bolstering of strength and reason in all interpersonal relationships. Therefore, if there are any reasons we might benefit from an objective viewpoint in any of our relationships or situations at this time, this will be supported as the emotions that are no longer serving us well in these will be provided with an exit strategy.
The strength of the Sun whilst applying towards a conjunction with Chiron, will mean we’ll be able to really utilise our strong sense of self and purpose in order to begin a whole new healing journey by the time of the New Moon on the 1st of April, by which time the Sun and Moon will have moved on to closely conjoin wounded healer Chiron.
Neptune will Trine the South Node
Neptune’s trine to the South Node will be almost exact by this point, so this last quarter Moon will be a significant time in terms of using our compassion and empathy towards others in ways we perhaps could or should have done in the past. This is our opportunity to open ourselves up in expansive ways that will help guide us towards greater light on our spiritual journeys, wherever it is we are heading right now. Connecting to the source and our unconscious realms with intuition will guide us to where we need to go in ways that will nourish society as a whole and encompass what is meant by the greater good as opposed to where we might want to go quickly order to feed our egoic desires. This is a learning curve, yet at the same time will propel us forwards on our paths towards greater fulfilment in life.
The Chart is Almost a Cluster Shape
In addition to all I have mentioned above, the chart of the last quarter Moon phase is just 8° away from being an official cluster shape, in which the planets are all within 120° of one another on the zodiac wheel. Technically, this means it’s really a Bowl shape, in which all planets are within half of the wheel (or 180°), but it is only two hours from a cluster by way of the Moon’s movement anyway. This will therefore receive the same concentrations of energies we may observe in the cluster. Also, This makes me feel really positive and excited because I realise focus and determination will come in abundance for us at this time. The Moon will then move on to traverse the planets of the cluster over the following seven days up until the New Moon on the 1st, during which time, all these available energies will be assessed unconsciously as we begin to build the reality of what we will allow into our lives next.
Hygeia will Oppose Uranus while Mars squares them
Saturn will Square the Nodal Axis
Right now we’re being called to really take responsibility in ways that are both helpful and practical regarding all we’ve been through and experienced during the last lunar cycle. Saturn in a square alignment with the nodal axis means it may be a time to think about setting new boundaries in place that will ultimately help us to grow in our maturity level over the coming years. Saturn is a long-term player so we may have found this to be a difficult task in the past, yet the great focus of energies from the planets at this time may hand us the determination we need. Saturn is in an applying aspect, with just over 2° to go before the exact square, so this is quite a powerful aspect that may give rise to tensions and an even greater urge to take action and make changes. This is in line with the overall theme of this last quarter Moon in Capricorn, the sign which Saturn rules.
