The First Quarter Moon is in Taurus this Thursday

Edited by Gemma

The first quarter Moon will land in Gemini on the 10th of March at 19°50’ of the mutable air sign. We at this time again have that bundle of intense energies that are all located at one side of the chart. As astrologers or those interested in astrology, we can certainly call this a bowl-shaped chart, because all planets are located within one half, or 180° of the chart wheel. We can also observe the presence of two different air signs in the personal planets, which is really important, a huge dose of Pisces and a little bit of Capricorn. Capricorn is here because Pluto is still in Capricorn, so this is also hugely important. Please bear in mind I am not including the South Node or the asteroids in my analysis of the bowl shape.

There’s a marked lack of the fire element in our chart for the first quarter Moon this Thursday, so this could mean that whatever transpires we can be relatively mellow and introspective about it. Because there is so much of that Pisces and Aquarius energy here, we may even access an inner point where we can grow in our spiritual awakening and sense of wisdom, regardless of what is happening around us. Read on to find out more about Thursday’s quarter Moon and what it means for us all.

The Gemini Moon will Square the Sun in Pisces

There’s no denying that the Moon is really important in the analysis of any chart. She is crucial in determining what the energy in the air is going to be like or what the themes are going to be with regards to our compulsive drives and habits at this important time in the lunation cycle. With the Moon in Gemini, there is going to be a theme of communication and, because it is the first quarter Moon, this communication is going be about adjustment and changes. Let’s take the time of the New Moon on the 2nd of March into account, when we were beginning a new cycle and allowing new energies into our lives. Here at the quarter Mon point we may find ourselves in correspondence or talks with others about shifts and changes to what transpired around the New Moon, give or take a few days.

The square between the Moon and the Sun in Pisces will create the tensions needed to make changes, as while the Sun wants to go with the flow and get creative from a heart-centred place, the Moon wants to get logical and hash things out with more information and writing, singing, talking or other forms of communication.

What the Bowl Chart Really Means

While the Sun and Moon will be forced to work together and the shifts are created due to this, we may see that we want to get creative in the ways we communicate and represent ourselves to the world and each other. We may seek to find a happy medium between the energies of the Sun and the Moon. Because the chart represents the bowl shape in astrology, we may follow this path with a surge of super intense energy that is focussed towards just a few areas of our lives. This may be a good thing, as when the planets are splashed across the chart, we can become more scattered. Therefore, what could be the result of this quarter Moon, could be changes that have been directed and focussed to the areas of life that are represented by the houses of your chart these planets fall in. Which of your houses do the signs Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Taurus and Gemini fall into? I find it’s a good idea to have a little think about this.

The Moon will Trine Saturn Exactly

The Moon in Gemini will be forming an exact trine with Saturn in Aquarius. While the Moon will be at 19°50’ of Gemini, Saturn will be at 19°51’ of Aquarius; that’s an orb of just 1 minute of arc! Quite often, when I delineate a chart, I look at the aspects with the smallest of orbs first, because these can tend to be some of the most potent through-ways of direct sharing of energies between planets. Despite the Moon being under strain in Gemini, which can also sometimes be a scattered or anxious energy, we will therefore most likely have excellent control over our emotions. We should be feeling practical and centred. This is why I believe this quarter Moon will be a productive Moon, as well as a focussed one.

Mercury is at the Critical Degree of Pisces

Now, I have to throw another spanner in the works here. There’s another contradiction in the heavens, as Mercury will be positioned right on the critical degree of his sign of detriment, Pisces. Critical degrees are super-charged points of a zodiac sign, as they represent the burst of fresh energies of that sign as the planet ingresses into it. Because Mercury will be in detriment, we may experience a certain sense of haziness and mental fog. Now, because of Saturn’s trine to the Moon and the Moon’s position in Gemini, we may still hold on to some practicality and logical reasoning, which will be a great thing! Having said this, the Gemini Moon is disposed to mercury in Pisces, so it may be best to wait and see what happens, regardless. Or we can say as a Pisces might, to go with the flow.
