A Look At The New Moon in Aquarius this Tuesday, the 1st of February

Edited by Gemma

The New Moon right at the beginning of February is a super charged, super-focused New Moon, because all the planets at this time will be collected on one side of the chart wheel. I would say this is a bundle shape although technically, the planets are not quite all within 120° of one another (Uranus’ position means this is around 125°). If any of you read my article on natal chart shapes, you may recollect the bundle is the shape where all the planets are bundled within 120°. Still, this chart effectively contains the energies of a bundle and is therefore bringing us a Superhero. All the energies of the planets are concentrated into narrow life areas, so whether you will emerge from this a powerhouse or become knocked off kilter during this New Moon, this will depend greatly on where this concentration of energies lands within your natal chart.

With the New Moon in Aquarius at 12° of the sign, this will have a strong effect on any of the fixed signs of the zodiac, especially those of you who have your Suns around the middle of the sign. This means that Taurus, Aquarius, Scorpio and Leo will likely all be affected, with personal planets between 7° and 20° of that sign.

The New Moon will Square Uranus

There is such a great deal of Uranus energy in play during this New Moon, it will be totally unsurprising if there are to be many themes relating to doors opening to new opportunities or radical changes being made that have long been needed to help us progress to the next level of development in life. Not only is the New Moon in a square aspect to Uranus, it is also disposed to and ruled by Uranus, with Saturn as its co-ruler. There are tensions within the square between these, which means we are likely to be spurred into action if there are any areas in our lives in which we are feeling the need for space and freedom to embrace our unique identity and remain true to ourselves. This is likely to happen in the area Uranus is transiting in your natal chart at the moment. With Uranus opposing Hygeia, this directs more pressure towards the Sun and the Moon, so health may also become a focal point at this time and there are likely to be new (and possibly exciting) themes unfolding for us in our very closest relationships.

The New Moon will Conjoin Saturn

It looks like we have been in the midst of a Saturnian theme for a while now and this New Moon seems like a continuation of the topic of responsibilities towards others in our closest relationships. This time, there will be a fresh way of looking at old problems and the offering of alternative viewpoints which we can use to carry forwards and make the changes needed in order to shift the struggles or arguments that are no longer serving us. Uranus and Saturn with the New Moon in Aquarius us all about not only finding those solutions, but implementing them and moving forwards from them as well. There may also be some themes surrounding patriarchy, government or father figures at this time, with Saturn in such a close alignment with the Sun and Moon. This includes any issues that pertain to freedom of the people from the grips of governmental control.

Pluto will Conjoin the Mercury Retrograde

Although this will be only three days before Mercury turns direct, it is still one of the slowest-moving times for Mercury and he will remain 2° or 3° from Pluto during the final few days of his retrograde period, moving forwards again to conjoin Pluto exactly on the 12th of February. The Full Moon will then occur on the 16th of February. This means it will be a month in which there will be some deep digging and investigating into the ways we organise our thoughts and our daily lives, so we can hopefully restructure these and transform them into a new mindset pattern that works best for us. The final days of the Mercury retrograde here is offering us a portal through which we can make profound transformations for the better, so it’s a really good idea to take advantage of this opportunity, especially as we may then begin to see the benefits of this as early as the Full Moon on the 16th.

Venus will Conjoin Mars and Vesta in Capricorn

Venus will be at 11° of Capricorn with Vesta, also at 11°. With Venus in such a close alignment with our Goddess of Hearth Fire, this will bring a resource of passion and energy into our lives of romance and monetary affairs. These two will also both conjoin Mars, who will be comfortable and strong at 5° of Capricorn, further adding fuel, concentration and focus into this area of our lives. While Venus in Capricorn might usually be a super grounded and cool placement, her close proximity to Vesta and Mars might actually bring in some extra fun, endearment and affection with the New Moon period. Venus and Vesta will trine Uranus too, so this further increases our chances of excitement and the possibility of unexpected money coming in.
