The Astrology of 2022: Part 2

Edited by Gemma

Hi and welcome to part two of the astrology of 2022! Just to give you a little re-cap of this week’s three-part series on all the wonderful astrological weather we have to look forward to over the year ahead, we had our explanation of the three Mercury retrogrades of 2022, with the dates for your diary and a section on the Moon’s North Node moving through Taurus. In part 2 today, there’s a Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces transit report with a detailed account (with dates) of Jupiter into Aries. In part 3, we will then have a look at the Mars retrograde in Gemini later in the year and our series of 2022 eclipses in Taurus and Scorpio.

Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces

Jupiter is In Traditional Domicile in Pisces

On the 12th of April at 23°58’ of Pisces, Jupiter will move on to conjoin Neptune. This will be the only Jupiter-Neptune conjunction to occur throughout the year. Astrologers often discuss major cycles of the outer planets and they especially seem to often fall upon the topic of which planet will paint the other planet the most with their planetary hue or which one will take on the significations of the other planet the most, leading to a shift in general functionality between the planets. Quite often this discussion includes the relative strengths of the two (or more) planets based on traditional leadership and dignity and this can become quite a complex exercise, especially when both planets are in the signs which they rule. While Jupiter is in domicile in Pisces, traditionally speaking, he may have actually been in a stronger position in Sagittarius back when he squared Neptune in 2019. Back then, there was so much tension around the world, as the rose-coloured veil was lifted on many parts of society, bringing to light a lot of what had remained unconscious until that point.

Making Way For Spirituality and Compassion

Now in 2022, we can expect Neptune to strongly colour their dance in this conjunction scenario, as all things Jupiter will be imbued with huge amounts of compassion, empathy and a great awakening. Jupiter will be receiving many etheric and spiritual nuances from Neptune. This relates to (but is not limited to) belief in the psychic arts, the afterlife, reincarnation and a newly-widespread appreciation for all that lies in the collective unconscious and within the more subtle aspects of life. Actually, since this conjunction takes place once every 13 years, these very things have already been gradually unfolding since the square aspect in 2019, but now we can look forward to a whole new cycle of these energies increasing and unfolding for us all for years to come. We really are in a cycle now of increasing enlightenment and consciousness that will spur many of us onwards to a place of healing and understanding, with much stronger desires to help one-another and society. This might also come with a renewed appreciation and respect for ancient traditions and healing arts on a wider scale than has previously been known to be in our modern world.

Jupiter in Aries

Jupiter Begins A New Zodiac Cycle

It takes Jupiter around 12 years to make a whole cycle around the zodiac or our individual natal chart, which means that he tends to stay in one sign or house for the duration of approximately one year. After spending his time in Pisces, Jupiter will then be set to ingress into Aries for the first time in 2022 on the 10th of May. While Jupiter is in his traditional domicile sign of Pisces, there’s increasing compassion and deep levels of understanding for others in society, with a huge focus on this. When he moves into Aries, he will still be operating with strength as he will be within his own fire triplicity, yet he will have moved from the 12th sign of the zodiac, into the 1st. This means that having completed his cycle of the zodiac, he will move from his focus on the aforementioned collective values of society and onto a focus that is much more egoistic in nature.

A Time For Personal Focus and Development!

While Jupiter represents our values and beliefs, Aries mirrors our need to focus on the self for personal development and discovery. Therefore, while Jupiter is in Aries, people within society might be more fired up to explore themselves and what they are each capable of achieving as individuals. Aries is a pioneering sign, who is brave and true, so we will each feel more inclined to speak up about our beliefs and opinions with no apologies, as opposed to focussing on the concern we have for our collective spiritual values, as we will have seen with Jupiter in Pisces. We might also be inclined to take extra risks and seek excitement, while teaching in general will become more experimental and inspired.

While in Aries, Jupiter will turn retrograde on the 28th of July and dip back into Pisces on the 28th of October 2022. He will then turn direct on the 23rd of November and head straight back into Aries again on the 20th of December 2022, to stay until May 2023.
