The major aspect that has been woven throughout the year 2021 occurs finally and for the 3rd time on the 24th of December. Unlike the year 2020, which was full of major powerful aspects including Pluto conjunct Jupiter and Saturn, 2021 has been a year with less going on astrologically. This year we’ve had one major social aspect that has recurred throughout the year and this is Saturn square Uranus. The first hit was on the 17th of February at 7° Aquarius and Taurus then again on the 14th of June 2021 at 13° Aquarius and Taurus.

Whenever there’s a square aspect between outer planets astrologically, this indicates a certain level of conflict in the areas Implied by these two planets. In this case we have Saturn and Uranus! In terms of manifestation, this meant a year with goings-on related to themes denoted by Saturn, such as governmental themes, the patriarch in general and constructs, rules and boundaries that have been set in place for long time. Uranus then denotes that which appears to be quite the opposite, which are new and inventive ideas and bodies/ communities that support such progressive things. There’s also the cutting edge of science, the occult and esoteric subjects such as astrology and energy healing. Another important thing to point out is that Uranus is a planet of truth, knowledge and enlightenment.

How the government Dealt with the Pandemic

It’s been clear throughout 2021 that many things the government have been involved with have not been met with much trust from the public in general, despite the majority of people having felt obliged to adhere to their guidelines. While still reeling from the COVID pandemic of 2020, the government rolled out vaccines which many have taken, yet much of the population have openly questioned whether this is as helpful as is claimed. There have been numerous times when the government plainly seemed to cover the truth. In December 2020 when we were banned from Christmas gatherings and were advised to stay indoors and not mix with others, they had a party at 10 Downing St, the Prime Minister’s residence. There’s also speculation and evidence that the country’s health system has been neglecting the needs of countless people in desperate need of emergency healthcare in order to treat people with Covid symptoms. This appears to be economically motivated rather than motivated by desire to help those in need. Of course the government will deny this, despite many recognising it plainly obvious. This is a clear manifestation of 2021’s Saturn square Uranus transit.

Julian Assange is the founder of WikiLeaks, which is an international non-profit organisation he created in 2006 to provide information to people around the world in the form of a media library. Items on WikiLeaks such as top-secret documents that have been held by the CIA and other governmental organisations reveal many corrupt and illegal operations. For this reason he has been dubbed a whistle-blower and has been sought after by the American authorities for prosecution for sharing these documents. He remained in the Ecuadorian embassy in London Since 2012, while America tried to gain rights to extradite him and just recently they finally achieved this. Unfortunately on the 27th of October 2021, on the first day of Julian’s High Court appeal, he suffered a stroke. His wife has said his health is deteriorating rapidly, which is partly due to the stress of the hearing. As of the 10th of December the High Court in London has agreed to allow him to be extradited to America to be charged under the US Espionage Act. This blow to our basic human rights is just another indication of Saturn Square Uranus and the government's position remains at odds in many ways with social progression, truth, freedom of information and equality. It’s also interesting to note that Saturn is in domicile in Aquarius while Uranus is in fall in Taurus, meaning that Saturn is in a stronger position and for this reason seems to have overruled Uranus in their square-on battle.

There are also ways this aspect will have affected many of us on a more personal level throughout the year. Many of us may have found that we’ve simply become so busy that we find it hard to create time for ourselves, no doubt urging us to organise our time in a more structured and conscious manner. This is exactly what Saturn is calling us to do. We may have also been urged to use the creative energy from the square to figure out new ways for juggling responsibilities, our rest time and even time to learn new things for our self-development. In business this perhaps manifested as restrictions, meaning we had to plan our schedules out more wisely and further in advance in order to free ourselves up to be creative within our businesses. This also allows for deeper authenticity, which is very much what Uranus calls for.
