The national chart of India - Transits

Edited by Gemma

India was officially declared independent from the British at the midnight hour between the 14th and 15th August 1947 – India chart . At this time, the Sun was at 21°06’ Leo, the Moon at 27°06’ Cancer, the Ascendant at 00°53’ Gemini and the Midheaven at 14°34’ Aquarius and these degree points of the zodiac were then set to mark four of the most important mathematical points for India from an Astrological perspective.

India’s 9th house is ruled by Saturn, which is in Leo opposing the MC with an orb of less than 1°. It also conjoins Mercury, Pluto, Venus and the Sun; a complex signature which is a great signification of India’s many stunning religious temples which it is famous for. Saturn rules ancient buildings and structures, chart ruler Mercury in Leo dramatic statements that are unique to the country, Venus beauty and the arts and the Sun, the ownership of the temples, which are under government control.

India, as the birth place of Buddhism, is famous for its deeply religious culture with a history that is rich in spiritual beliefs and their daily practices that are ingrained in society. This can be seen in India’s square between Jupiter in Scorpio in the 6th house of daily living to Pluto, Saturn, Venus and the Sun in Leo next to the country’s IC.

There is, however, some corruption in the Indian government that has been known to cause problems and this can also be seen in Jupiter’s square to the Sun and the governments antipathy towards the Hindu religion, which is the religion practised by over 70% of India’s population. Despite this and the fact that India is a secular country they remain in control of many of the temples and their donations.

Further corruption can be seen in the farming and profit sector, which is understood to create problems for the economy and this is another signification the Leo stellium of planets at the IC of India may indicate, especially with Pluto conjoining Saturn as an indicator of underhanded dealings and the IC as it relates to crops, land and agriculture.

Saturn moving over India’s MC

On the 7th May 2021, Saturn is now moving into an exact opposition with the national Saturn of India while also moving into an exact conjunction with the MC and as this happens, it is understandable that the country is experiencing a huge amount of pressure under uniquely difficult circumstances, especially seeing as Saturn is in an exact conjunction with Pluto (the ruler of disease, deaths and major upheavals) in the national chart in Leo. Leo can often point towards a calamity of some sort or another, being a fire sign that is fixed and ruled by the Sun, especially where Pluto is involved.

Currently there is an unprecedented crisis in India as a new Indian strain of coronavirus overwhelms the country and there are over 400,000 newly reported cases, causing a catastrophic strain on the hospitals across India and an exhaustion of all resources.

Saturn will in fact turn retrograde on the 22nd of May just before hitting the exact degree of opposition to India’s national Saturn and then will leave on the 26th June before returning into orb between the 7th and 24th January 2022, at which time he will be conjoining the MC on the same day (the 24th January) while moving ahead, this time at a much faster speed. Saturn ruling public buildings, national calamities and scarcities, which perfectly sums up many of the difficulties India is going through at the moment under the current sociopolitical strains.

Saturn will then oppose Venus in the 4th house on the 2nd February 2022.

Pluto is opposing India’s Moon

India’s Moon is in the 3rd house at 27°06’ Cancer and it can be seen that Pluto is currently moving very close to an opposition with this, as it entered into orb on 4th March 2021, turned retrograde on 27th April before having the chance to turn exact and then it will leave again in the 24th June. Pluto will then re-enter orb between the 6th Jan 2022 to the 15th march 2022.

It is clear to see that this opposition is indicative of the crisis the natives of India are currently experiencing and the high mortality rate amongst the people, which is an emergency that needs to be dealt with.
