The Third Quarter Moon is in Sagittarius this Wednesday

The third quarter Moon in Sagittarius on the 23rd of February will occur while the Sun is in Pisces and the Moon is in Sagittarius. The two are mutable signs, so this may be an indication that we will need to adopt some of the skills of these at this time. The third quarter Moon is a time of changes and shifts in life’s direction that will hopefully set us on the right path that guides us onwards to the next New Moon on the 2nd of March.

The third quarter Moon is a time of clearance. Whatever happened at the time of the Full Moon around the 16th of February (give or take a few days) marked a culmination of activity that had been building up over the first few weeks of February. Now, that cycle of activity is coming to an end and it’s time to finish up clearing the energies of that, to make way for the seedlings of the next cycle to be planted.

This will require an ability to adapt on our part, as we go within ourselves and contemplate quietly on the things that may happen next. The week following the last quarter Moon is often when activity is low. During this time we are intuitive and unconsciously open to messages from the universe about getting ready for the next energetic concoction. New ingredients are being thrown into the pot.

The Sun and Moon will be Applying to Jupiter

With the Moon at 05°16’ Sagittarius, she will be in an applying square to Jupiter, who will be at 12°38’ Pisces. The Sun will therefore be forming an applying conjunction with Jupiter. This may bring in heightened emotions, which of course could very much be related to all that has transpired so far in February, especially at the time of February‘s Full Moon. Simultaneously, hope for the future and deepened empathy towards our peers may be thrown in to the mix, as many of us will be feeling confident that more opportunities will come. If we have lost any opportunities over the past month, this may be a time we are called to go within ourselves and ask ourselves why we lost them. Is there something we can change in order to increase our chances of success the next time opportunities arise? The quarter Moon is a time for changes to be made, after all, whether this be the first or last quarter.

Vertex will Conjoin the North Node

Vertex will very closely conjoin the North Node for the chart of the quarter Moon in Northern England. This will increase the likelihood of chance meetings with significant people who could potentially change our lives. The Vertex can also be quite telling in the subject of financial affairs, so the fact that both the North Node and Vertex will be in Taurus will mean the energies are ideal for allowing chance meetings into our lives that could open up a path to prosperity and abundance. The North Node represents our soul’s intended journey in this lifetime, so anything that crosses our paths right now could prove to be fruitful for us.

Vesta and the north Node will also be tightly trining Pluto, so chance meeting that are aligned with you at a soul level could also be quite transforming or life-changing and will set the tone for the next cycle. This will set in further and strengthen in potency at the time of the New Moon on the 2nd of March.

Mercury will Form a Sextile with Chiron

The close sextile between Mercury and Chiron will bless us all with the ability to access our wounds from an intellectual viewpoint. This means any mindset bug-bears we’ve had lately may be offered a chance to come into our mind’s focus so we can confront them, heal and move forwards with the intention of helping others. Chiron in Aries is the wounded healer warrior who wants to heal the world while Mercury in Aquarius will bring to the warrior quick wit and access to genius ideas. With this energy we can turn blockages around that have had us feeling stuck over the past few months. Is it time to find healing that will bring clarity enough to make way for forwards growth?

Pallas Athena will Trine the Moon

Pallas Athena is thought by many astrologers to represent a cross between both Pallas, the Greek Titan of warcraft and Athena, the Greek Goddess of War and Wisdom. Both are closely associated with war and, with the Moon already in fire sign Sagittarius, this will no doubt work as a fan to the flames of an already palpably scorching situation. This is why, although the last quarter is said to bring closures and clear the way for new beginnings to take hold, it does feel as though the next lunar cycle will very much be a continuation of the last, only this time under a new burst of energy or a new guise. Of course this will be good news for those of us who are not ready to call quits on our latest situations yet.

With our Moon in the aforementioned applying square to Jupiter, perhaps what is coming at the time of the next New Moon will be access to further opportunities that are follow-on openings to those that have come to pass over the month just gone.
