The Full Moon this month will occur at 27°51’ of Cancer, on the 17th of January at 11:49 pm UT. This could be an emotional time ahead for all of us. Following the heavy Capricorn New Moon two weeks ago, we now have the Moon in the cardinal water sign Cancer. We also have all three planets that rule over the water signs in tension aspects during the Full Moon, as Nep-tune will square Mars and Pluto will oppose the Moon. This means after all the planning and building of new schedules and routines we did at the start of the month, there’s likely to be a huge release of tension at the time of the Full Moon. Perhaps many people will be feeling overworked around this time, as the daily grind of being back in work after the Christmas holi-days finally takes its toll.
The Moon’s nodes will be at the critical degrees of Gemini (North Node) and Sagittarius (South Node). This 00° critical degree point will flex its muscles right on the social and education scenes, as we are given our last chances to align ourselves perfectly on the our intended paths here before the nodes move onto the more personal axis of Taurus and Scorpio.
The Cancer - Capricorn Axis
The Cancer - Capricorn axis is the axis of survival and security, so these may become some of the great topics of focus around the time of the Full Moon. With the Moon in Cancer, she is in domicile, so we will find comfort in laying low and staying home while perhaps spending more quality time with children and the rest of the family. The Sun in Capricorn is similar to identify-ing with the paternal, security-driven archetype, so the Cancer - Capricorn axis can also signify both mother and father figures and their complimentary yet opposing roles in society. For many of us, there may be rewards ready to reap that promise to increase our safety and securi-ty at home, especially if we worked hard towards this since the New Moon.
The Full Moon will Oppose Pluto
As I mentioned previously, the Moon will be in an opposition aspect with Pluto, so there might be some real intensifying of emotions at this time, resulting in the uncovering of some long-forgotten memories. Sometimes we have selective memories when we don’t feel too great about something, but Pluto is all about uncovering the truth so it can be brought forward and dealt with. We might have our self-images challenged again, especially seeing as Pluto is in such a close conjunction with the Sun during the Full Moon.
The Mystic Rectangle With the Moon’s Nodes
A mystic rectangle is made up of two pairs of planets or points in opposition to each other and these planets are separated by two trines and two sextiles, so that a rectangle is formed from drawing around them. During the Full Moon, the Sun and Moon make one opposition, while the nodal axis makes the other. Because of Pluto’s close proximity to the Sun, this means it will be a great time for making changes that are aligned towards individual growth and maturity. This is also a great time for making necessary changes within relationships in order to make them stronger and more deeply intimate than ever before. The results could be positive and long-lasting.
Venus Retrograde will Trine Uranus
Venus in her retrograde position in Capricorn will be in the sign opposite to the sign the Moon is and with her trine to Uranus, there could be some excitement in romance at the time of the Full Moon. Social gatherings are likely to be anything but boring and people are likely to be feeling more bold and daring with their style and fashion than usual. There could also be a much higher likelihood that we connect with old friends to catch up on life or, especially with the Venus retrograde, old lovers or past romances.
If you‘re planning a shopping trip, make sure you think carefully before you buy, as the Uranus retrograde in Taurus in the trine to Taurus’ ruler Venus could indicate sudden purchases that are later regretted. This could be a case of compulsivity meets sudden desire for retail therapy.
Mars Will Square Neptune
This is another aspect at the time of the Full Moon that is one to watch out for, because we may find that we’re feeling a little less in control than we usually are. Neptune is a planet who can have us feeling dazed and confused at the best of times and is known to dissolve anything she comes into contact with. This means when she is in such a tense aspect with our planet of action and will-power, Mars, we may be feeling a little lost. The effect can also be loss of drive and personal strength.
Saturn Conjoins the Mercury Retrograde
Mercury will be retrograde with a conjunction to Saturn to boot. Not only does this mean communications and technology may go a little haywire, but Saturn could make things even more difficult. Saturn tends to have this effect, where there are blockages seemingly in place and things seem to just get in the way. Remember that this is only temporary as with all other aspects!
