Every person in the world has a Natal chart that's unique to them in much the same way that every person also has their own unique fingerprint. The circular Natal charts of people around the world will all look different. Throughout history astrologers could not help but notice that as the planets are plot onto the circular charts, they often create particular patterns and these have come to be known as Natal chart patterns.
There are several main Natal chart patterns known to astrologers and each pattern tends to have its own unique modes of expression within native’s life and this can shift in meaning according to the signs the planets are in and the houses they fall in to. Energies from the planets will also move in particular directions within certain aspect patterns leading to the accumulation of surplus energies at certain points of the Natal chart
For example the kite Natal chart pattern always has one planet that is referred to as the crux of the kite and this tends to hold a lot of the tension and accumulation of energies. Let’s have a look at some of the major aspect patterns and their meanings.
The Splash
The splash aspect pattern is when the planets are dotted around the chart in a way that they are quite spread out so that it looks like they have kind of been splashed onto the Natal chart. When a person has this pattern in their Natal chart this might result in them being a little scattered, spreading their energies out amongst many different areas of life and often tending to not have a great deal of focus in one area. These people may start out not quite sure of what they want to do in life, but will usually find something that works for them. They are also usually very independent, valuing their own sense of freedom greatly amongst others.
The See-saw
The see-saw shape looks like two clusters of planets at opposite sides of the Natal chart, with at least 60° on either side of the shape separating the clusters. this often manifests in the character as two opposing or divergent qualities that the native feels they have to constantly balance. It is thought that people with this pattern strongly desire relationships with others in order to help balance them out. Often they may find themselves leading two lives or often having to choose between two major routes to take which could potentially be life-changing.
The Bucket
In the bucket, all planets but one are bundled together at one side with the other planet (the Singleton) placed across from the bundle at the other. This creates quite a bit of tension at the singleton planet as the natives leans upon it so they can express it separately from the rest of the group. The area of life indicated by the Singleton is of great importance to the native. As an example Albert Einstein had a bucket chart with Uranus as the handle and he was famous for is progressive intellect and inventive, logical mind.
The Locomotive
Here, all planets in the natal chart are spread out within 240° of the chart or 2/3, leaving 1/3 of the chart empty. Natives with this pattern tend to be energetic and geared towards solution-finding when under pressure. Like the forward Motion of a train they rarely give up. Each locomotive chart has a leading planet which can be found and at the start of the train moving forwards or anticlockwise. You can find this by tracing your finger clockwise around the chart and coming up on the planet that is right after the empty space. The native is often trying to reach and fulfil the empty part of a chart using the leading planet right at the front of action, which can lead to great determination and willpower relating to this planet.
The Bowl
When the natal chart pattern is a bowl shape all the planets in the chart are in one half of the chart, usually within 180° give or take around 15°. These natives have so much energy concentrated into one half of their chart, they often feel something is missing in their lives, which is represented by the empty half. They may try to fill this void through relationships with others or activities that make them feel ‘whole’. Although this can offer some form of relief the missing half is still there and there may be some obsessiveness or co-dependency as a result. They often marry with those who have planets in the empty side of their chart, saying their partner completes them.
The Bundle
The bundle chart pattern results in all the planets in the horoscope bundled within around 120°. This means that there’s lots of focused energy in that part of the natal chart and so those with the bundle tend to spend a lot of focus in just a few areas of life if. This means the focus they do spend in these areas can be at the expense of all the other areas as indicated by the rest of the chart but these people can often become masters in their field of work, too. Although they can be hyper-focused on a few things, this can lead to brilliance or huge belief in their own abilities. It’s also thought these natives can be great risk takers.
