The New Moon this month will occur at 9:17 am, at 04°03’ Virgo. This month, our New Moon will be charged with a good dose of cerebral energy, which will be great for communications. This will be especially true as it relates to opening up new communications with others and beginning new working relationships with colleagues or clients, which are meant to be long-lasting and supportive.

There may be some surprises coming up at the time of this New Moon, too, if we take into account the strained position of Uranus in the New Moon chart. This is because Uranus is not only strained but strengthened, as he still conjoins the Moon’s North Node, increasing his potential impact in the chart and for us.

The New Moon Lands in Virgo

This New Moon lands at 04°03’ of Virgo, so we’ve just entered into Virgo season. As the Sun moved into Virgo on the 23rd of August, just four days prior to the New Moon, we’re now entering into a period of hustle and bustle, preparations and hard work. This is what tends to happen for us during Virgo season and it’s likely no coincidence that many of us or our children will return to school, college or university around this time too, or later in September. It’s a new season, after which marks the end of summer and the start of autumn and new methods or periods of work and study are underway!

The New Moon will Square Mars

There’ll be an almost exact square between Mars and the New Moon and both will be in mutable signs with Mars having recently entered into Gemini. This highlights communications and technology again, with daily practices and health a strong focus, although there could be some difficulties and frustrations. Perhaps this will come as a niggling feeling for us throughout the day or maybe we’ll feel a bit moodier or more heightened in emotion than usual. There are also some higher chances of miscommunications or delays in our day-to-day planning and schedules. Perhaps it’s even a good day to take a break!

Venus will oppose Saturn

There’ll be an opposition between Venus and Saturn at the time of the New Moon, which will be another very close alignment (there’ll only be 1°51’ of arc between the two). While it is true that as Venus is in opposition with Saturn, we may find both creativity and spontaneity in romance are much more difficult to come by, this also brings with it a certain sense of stability and desire to put in some extra effort in romantic situations. We may also recognise the need to be much more frugal and cautious with money at this time, as a result of difficult news about the economy and other such things.

Uranus will Square the Venus-Saturn Opposition

Uranus has just turned retrograde, only 3 days prior to the New Moon. Furthermore, he’ll be in a square alignment with the Venus-Saturn opposition. This will bring in some of the meanings of the Uranus-Saturn square, whilst incorporating Venus into this and ensuring Uranus is the planet receiving most of the pressure in the alignment. Essentially, we will be pushed to accept even the most difficult changes we’re going through in life whilst needing to find creative ways to navigate these, despite the difficulties with this in Saturn’s opposition to Venus. This could be felt the most in our love lives, socially and in financial matters.

Mercury will Oppose Jupiter

After having moved into Libra on the 26th of August, Mercury now moves towards an opposition with Jupiter, who is retrograde at 7°19’ Aries. With a balancing act implied with Mercury in Libra, it’s doubly so with the opposition as his peace-seeking cerebral qualities weigh with Jupiter’s fiery passion, who reviews spiritual beliefs, morals and justice. Such things could quite easily become topics of interest now.

Mercury will trine Mars

As Mercury opposes Jupiter, he’ll also trine Mars, who will be in Gemini, the sign Mercury rules. Many new conversations and topics could be initiated and addressed at the time of the New Moon and through the rest of this lunar cycle, as both Mars and Jupiter will work to propel all things connection and communication into light and existence, perhaps with enthusiasm and without reserve.

More about Saturday’s New Moon in Virgo

Ceres will Conjoin Venus

One of the most beautiful alignments that will grace our skies at the time of the New Moon in Virgo is Ceres’ conjunction with Venus in Leo. Ceres is closely linked with Virgo as they both signify growth, health and fertility so this conjunction is particularly meaningful. Despite the challenges presented towards Venus with Saturn’s opposition and Uranus’ square, Ceres will ensure a healthy growth that will encourage Venus’ progression, even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time. We may be swayed this way and that, pressured to seek autonomy and freedom or pushed to change the very foundations we’re used to relying on, yet there may be a silver lining in evolution with the help of asteroid Ceres, goddess of harvest and nourishment.
