July is a month when many places in the northern hemisphere will become warmer (or hotter) and the children at school in the UK will be planning to finish yet another year of studying to go off on their summer holidays. Their well-deserved break from the academic routine of term time usually begins some time later in July. There’s also the majority/ the rest of Cancer season to look forward to, which began on the 21st of June!

To start with in July we will have both the ingress of Mars into Taurus and the ingress of Mercury into Cancer on the same day, the 5th of July. There is then a Full Moon at 21° Capricorn on the 13th of July followed by Venus’ ingress into Cancer on the 18th. Mercury is then set to enter into the sign of Leo on the 19th of July and we have the Sun following suit into Leo season on the 22nd. Our New Moon this month will fall on the 28th, also in Leo and finally we will have Jupiter turning retrograde, also on the 28th of the month.

But what does all this mean from an astrological perspective? Read on to find out.

The 5th of July: Mars enters Taurus

When Mars enters Taurus on the 5th of July, he will be forming a perfect sextile aspect with Mercury in Cancer, both at the critical 00°00’ degrees of their respective signs. This is a harmonious aspect and with Mars in super strong and sturdy Taurus, he will be somewhat subdued and slowed down in his tendency towards impulsivities especially. The sextile to Mercury means that our actions may be geared towards mercurial pursuits, such as study, research or networking.

The 5th of July: Mercury enters Cancer

The same day, Mercury will be entering into the sign of Cancer, which is why they will form their sextile at 00°00’. Many important communications may be initiated at this time that perhaps many have intended to come forward with yet have been waiting for the ‘right time’. Even with these two planets in the feminine signs of Cancer and Taurus, their sextile at the critical degrees will be important, as the critical degree is a cardinal point that begins each zodiac sign. The cardinal point is a degree of action and orientation that marks the flavour of the planet’s transit throughout the rest of the sign.

The 13th of July: The Full Moon in Capricorn

On the 13th, the Full Moon in Capricorn will conjoin Pluto as he retrogrades. This will no doubt be a meaningful alignment in which we may be confronted with emotional issues of the past, personal traumas and fears. How have we acted in light of these over the past three months and are there ways we can improve on our actions in the future? Mercury will also conjoin the Sun whilst Uranus trines the Moon, so deep introspection and critical thinking will play a major role in our conclusions, potentially helping us to find closure and move forwards with greater freedoms.

The 18th of July: Venus enters Cancer

Now, Venus’ ingress into Cancer will happen at a fortunate time when the Moon in Pisces trines the Sun, also in Cancer. This means the day is likely to flow with relative ease. With Neptune conjoining the Moon and Mercury conjoining the Sun, also in the mix, this could add an air of enchantment, deep love and compassion that is almost palpable to us all.

The 19th of July: Mercury enters Leo

As Mercury enters Leo the day after this, we will in turn be entering into a period when internal reflection about our communications and mental processes will perhaps give way to external expression. Leo is a fire sign who is focussed on expressions and these can often become a creative release for many feelings and thoughts that happen to be resting under our surface at any given time.

The 22nd of July: The Sun enters Leo

Today it will be the official start of Leo season, which will be a great reason for all the Leos out there to celebrate. The Moon at 25° of Taurus will now sextile Neptune whilst squaring Saturn and conjoining the North Node. This will be a time to come together collectively to focus on women’s rights, our compassion for them and the moral principles that need addressing behind new laws.

The 28th of July: The New Moon in Leo

The New Moon in July will land at 5°38’ of Leo whilst conjoining Ceres and trining Jupiter. Ceres represents growth and fertility and Jupiter freedom, so women’s rights could again become a topic hence need to be addressed. There could be a lot of impassioned speech with Mercury also in Leo, who will be squaring Uranus in Taurus with an orb of only 15’. Now, others must listen!

The 28th of July: Jupiter turns Retrograde

The Jupiter retrograde on the 28th of July could have some of us question our belief systems or review the methods we’ve used to lobby for our own personal freedom just recently, since the start of Jupiter’s shadow period. Jupiter will still trine the Moon at this time as Mars applies in a conjunction with Uranus, so there’s also a chance of greater urges to break free from constraints that have held us back just lately.
