The Astrology of April 2022

April is a wonderful time for having fun with the kids and taking some time off. With the Easter break approaching, it’s almost time to let our hair down and perhaps even take on a spot of spring cleaning. It’s also financial planning month for many of us with the start of the financial year. April looks to be quite an eventful month, astrologically speaking, which is something of a contrast from the simple month we had in March.

A New Moon in Aries begins the month on the 1st, followed by Venus’ entry in to Pisces on the 6th. Then Mercury’s ingress into Taurus on the 11th is closely followed by the amazing Jupiter-Neptune conjunction on the 12th. Mars enters Pisces on the 15th and then we have our Full Moon in Libra on the 16th. After this the Sun enters Taurus on the 20th and Mercury’s second ingress of the month is into Gemini on the 29th, the same day Pluto turns retrograde. Finally, we will have our second New Moon of the month in the shape of a partial solar eclipse in Taurus on the 30th.

The New Moon in Aries - 1st

The New Moon on the 1st of April conjoins Chiron, so we’re being asked to journey to heal our fears and move on from past regrets. As Mercury conjoins the two, networking and new communications will help us with this. With a chance soulmate meeting in group settings or through friends, a lot of responsibility comes in the name of love, passion and devotion, with our Mars, Saturn, Juno and Venus super-conjunction in Aquarius.

Venus enters Pisces - 5th

Venus will join Neptune and Jupiter in Pisces, really bringing love and compassion further into the centre stage for us all. All three of these are either in domicile or exalted now and Mars is tightly conjoining Saturn whilst squaring the nodal axis. The nodal axis represents the destiny of the collective and Mars-Saturn here is our strength, composure and our need to come together in times of crisis.

Mercury enters Taurus - 11th

Mercury heads into Taurus so now is our opportunity to find more structure in our day-to-day lives and sense in our thoughts. The chaos we have been experiencing this month will abate as we allow life to slow down a little. Where is Taurus in your natal chart?

Jupiter conjoins Neptune - 12th

Jupiter, Neptune and Venus are all either in domicile or exalted and this conjunction is now the sole dispositor of all planets. This is such a powerful conjunction and is in trine to the South Node signifying expansion, chances to right wrongs of the past and prayer. Saturn in square to the nodes now signifies the far right, boundaries and governance.

Mars enters Pisces - 15th

When Mars enters Pisces, hot-headed passions may wane on both a personal level and throughout the world, so I’m hoping this will contribute to a decline in nonsensical aggression from certain countries and world leaders.

There’s a Full Moon in Libra - 16th

The Full Moon in Libra on the 16th will trine Juno and Saturn, while the Moon and Sun apply in a square aspect with Pluto and this could mark a culmination point when the healing journey we set out on the 1st of April leads to a simultaneous release and transformation. This may be about finding a balance between our personal identity (the Sun) and who we are emotionally in relationships (the Moon). It could also be catalysed by our soul mate ties and our responsibilities we share with the collective (Juno and Saturn in Aquarius).

The Sun enters Taurus - 20th

Happy Taurus season! Now the Sun’s finally in Taurus we can kick back with every planet but two (Saturn in Aquarius and the fast-moving Moon in Sagittarius) in feminine or yin signs. I’m really looking forward to how things are going to be playing out towards the month’s end, because I may then welcome the calm after the storm.

Mercury enters Gemini - 29th

Mercury moves into domicile on the 29th and by this time the astrology clock has officially left behind its temporary cluster shape in favour of a waxing bowl shape. What does this mean? Well, general focus and intensity may gradually begin to fan out and disperse from this moment, as our interests widen for new topics and enlightenment.

Pluto turns Retrograde - 29th

Pluto turns retrograde for the second time this year on the 29th of April, so pay some extra attention to this if you have personal planets around 26° of the cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn as you may have another Pluto hard aspect coming up.

The Partial Solar Eclipse in Taurus - 30th

The partial solar eclipse in Taurus feels and looks like a fresh start from the planetary energies we’ve had these past couple of months. The chart is less concentrated, the eclipse conjoins Uranus and Jupiter-Venus’ super close conjunction has an orb of only 2’. Mars in Pisces sextiles the eclipse and Vesta will neatly square the nodal axis. This is like an eclipse of passion and fortitude as all lessons from the previous lunar cycle will still be lit within us yet we’ll be ready to move on to better things.
