Come one, come all, gather around and get yourselves comfortable for the third and final part of the Astrology on Line’s Astrology of 2022! If you haven’t already read the first two articles in this week’s three-part series on all about what’s going on astrologically throughout 2022, here’s a quick outline of what has been talked about so far. In part 1 last Tuesday there was a thorough explanation of the three Mercury retrogrades of 2022, with relevant dates for your diary and a section on the Moon’s North Node moving into Taurus. In part 2 on Thursday, there was Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces complete with dates and Jupiter’s ingress into Aries. Now, we will delve into the Mars retrograde in Gemini that happens a little later in 2022 and finally our series of eclipses on the Taurus and Scorpio axis.

Mars retrograde in Gemini

Mars retrogrades occur when Mars appears to be moving backwards from a geocentric perspective of the solar system. He isn’t actually moving backwards, but because of the relative speeds and locations of both Earth and Mars, we experience something of a drag in his locational place in the zodiac. We can look at the effects of the Mars retrograde in one of two ways; either Mars becomes super-charged during this time, or all things relating to Mars become a little hay-wire and unpredictable.

Mars’ retrograde will be in effect for two and a half months from the 30th of October, 2022 at 25°37' Gemini until the 12th of January, 2023 at 8°08' Gemini. Things can be a little tough at this time as we may be more prone to accidents or impulsiveness in general, creating potential problems in ways as expressed by the sign of Gemini. We may be more prone to disagreements and fights, while feeling generally frustrated or possibly even angry. Anger is more likely to be expressed verbally so it’s a good idea to be aware of this, while perhaps using writing as a release, singing or releasing by talking frustrations out when alone.

The Series of Eclipses in Taurus and Scorpio

There will be four Eclipses occurring in 2022 on the Scorpio/ Taurus axis, with two Solar Eclipses in each of the signs, Scorpio and Taurus and two lunar Eclipses in each. This means that major themes throughout society as belonging to the Taurus - Scorpio axis will thread throughout the whole of the year 2022. Also, as the special degrees within the Eclipses become touched by the planets and reactivated as the year plays out, there will be additional times of manifestation. The themes of this axis are in fact doubly important this year, especially with the movement of the North Node into Taurus on the 18th of January (see part 1) with the South Node consequently in Scorpio. These themes can be very much to do with possessions, wealth and growth in self value, with personal boundaries also very important. Let's have a quick look at the eclipses individually, including some of the important details and re-activation degrees of each one.

30 April, partial Solar Eclipse in Taurus

This eclipse at 10° Taurus will conjoin Uranus and sextile Mars in Pisces. With only two planets in masculine signs (Mercury and Saturn), there’s likely to be a slow-moving, dreamy quality to this lunation. There’ll be plenty going on in Taurus and Pisces, with Neptune, Venus and Jupiter conjoining between 24° and 27° of the water sign. We’ll be going deep to get in touch with our intuitive and sensual sides in the name of home comforts, love and romance.

15–16 May, total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

This eclipse at 25° Scorpio will conjoin the South Node and trine Mars and Neptune in Pisces. Jupiter will have just ingressed into Aries while Saturn in Aquarius will square the eclipse with an orb of just 21’. With Venus also in Aries conjoining Chiron, this will be such a dynamic week of astrological weather, that will call upon us to evaluate our priorities in romance and what these mean to us at a personal level with regards to our own self image and development.

25 Oct, Partial Solar Eclipse in Scorpio

This eclipse at 02° Scorpio will conjoin Venus and quincunx the Jupiter retrograde in Aries. While we will be thinking about our beliefs and how these have been serving us lately, there may notice some incongruence between these and the ways we operate emotionally within our relationships. There will be a grand air trine between Mercury, Mars and Saturn, so we may need to plan the things we say in relation to these things with care and determination.

8 Nov, Total Lunar Eclipse in Taurus

This eclipse at 16° Taurus will oppose Mercury and Venus and conjoin Uranus. The theme is again romance, potentially creating huge changes in our unions in big ways by helping us shift unwanted energies that have so far had us feeling stuck. There’s a big communication theme, with deep-delving into emotional spheres and again, a tension square towards Saturn. Ceres’ trine to the Moon may be our saviour, offering potential growth and support for all.
