The Total Solar Eclipse on the 4th of December will occur at 12° Sagittarius. It looks as though we’ll all welcome the refreshing change this straight-forward eclipse can bring, especially after the heavy month we’ve just experienced in November. In November we had a New Moon directly opposing Uranus and then a lunar eclipse in which Mars opposed Uranus while re-activating the New Moon. In-between we had the Mars - Saturn square and all this resulted in low energies, low confidence levels and unexpected occurrences throughout the month. Many people experienced set-backs. We can now look forward to more positive vibes, healing and a new phase to end the year in the month of December.

This Eclipse will occur at the mid-point between Mercury and Vesta while conjoining both of them, which are also in Sagittarius. The New Moon will form a trine to Chiron in Aries, yet will square Neptune (albeit with a wide square). We will see a conjunction forming between Venus and Pluto in Capricorn, while Mars is moving on towards the later degrees of Scorpio to conjoin the South Node in Sagittarius. Read on to find out more about these planetary alignments as they’ll appear on Saturday.

The Eclipse Will Conjoin Mercury

I have a feeling that this next lunar cycle which is upon us will encourage us to progress and face our fears through communicating better and more enthusiastically. Mercury is still in Sagittarius, so this is a great placement for both academic learning and sharing knowledge. It’s also a great placement to learn how to deal with life’s circumstances better by committing to a higher mind-set and openness of attitude. Both the Sun and the Moon will be in an applying aspect to Mercury, so the energy will build up from now. If there is anything you have been meaning to say or put to the test verbally, now is a great time to put this ball into motion as this month, you may well be supported.

The Eclipse Will Conjoin Vesta

The eclipse also conjoins Vesta and, as I previously mentioned, actually lands at the midpoint between Vesta and Mercury. This means that whatever needs to be said at the time of the eclipse will be important in a way that is spiritual and sacred. This is an important time for our development and our mental and cognitive health. If there have been things holding you back, especially during November, now is a good time to make that break through you have been waiting for. Vesta is a positive asteroid who brings an extra burst of meaningfulness to life and she symbolises eternity and righteousness.

The Eclipse will Trine Chiron in Aries

With the eclipse’s trine to Chiron on Aries, we will all receive new opportunities to heal some of our deepest wounds. Vesta will also closely trine Chiron, so this might happen for us in a kind way, especially for those of us who are born under one of the fire signs, (Sagittarius, Aries or Leo). This is certainly something to look forward to, but I do advise you all to take hold of the opportunities that are out there for you this month, even if there has been some fear holding you back, because your own motivated action could serve you well at this time and of course much better than if there was to be no decided action on your part.

The Eclipse will Square Neptune

With the wide square to Neptune, there may be some general escapism and fantasising going on this month, especially fantasising that is focussed on ego-boosting and personal achievement. We might use this while we strongly aspire to be more empathic or better versions of ourselves to the people around us. This can be a good thing! Personal comfort might also become more important to us this month, as we wish to retreat from some of the stressors that daily living can bring. Why not wrap ourselves up in cotton wool now and again?!

Venus will Conjoin Pluto

Venus’ conjunction to Pluto will likely create an on-going theme for us this month as she applies towards Pluto at the time of the solar eclipse, passes and then will be seen separating at the time of the Full Moon later, on the 19th of December. With Venus in Capricorn, we might still be thinking about all the practical aspects of money and ways we can create some extra income. It is important however, to do things for the right reasons and as they feel good to us. If we move gradually and at a pace that is bets for us, this Venus-Pluto conjunction will help us out.

Mars will Conjoin the South Node

Mars is moving towards the South Node and will cross over it later in the month, before the Full Moon. This means there will be plenty of chances for us to take action in areas of our lives that we have previously failed to take action in. Perhaps it is time to make things happen this month, to take life by the horns. Which opportunities are re-appearing again and how are you going to meet these opportunities while Mars crosses over the South Node on the 15th of December, just before the Full Moon?
