Unaspected planets are those planets within a natal chart that are not forming any Ptolemaic aspect (a square, conjunction, opposition, trine or sextile) to any other planets in the natal chart. They are thought to represent untamed facets of the psyche that are difficult to integrate with other facets. Another way of putting this is that the part of the personality represented by the unaspected planet may feel disconnected from the rest of the personality, which is why they are often thought to be untamed or wild.

The Sun

If the Sun in a person’s natal chart is unaspected, there can be a tendency to focus a great deal on recognition, leadership and attainment of glory. This can lead to favourable results in life, yet there is sometimes a hyper-focus that can lead to excess in this area including excess self-pride. Another way this can manifest is with pretension a marked lack of awareness or a lack of willpower.

The Moon

When the Moon in a person’s natal chart is unaspected, there can be a hyper-sensitivity towards others, especially within close relationships. Sometimes the native may react in a seemingly irrational manner, while experiencing difficulties tempering their emotions while at other times they may seem to hide their emotional side away from the rest of the world or simply be able to switch them off.

Mercury

With an unaspected Mercury in the natal chart, the native may often experience a sense of insecurity or mental anxiety that is followed by an urge towards hyperactivity of the mind or communication channels with others in order to soothe this. If the untamed energy is tamed and focussed, there may be many marked strengths or talents for the communicative arts or thinking and researching.

Venus
Someone with an unaspected Venus may find they have difficulties in expressing themselves artistically or romantically, until they accidentally stumble upon a pronounced talent they have for music, nurturing others through unconditional love or making aesthetically pleasing artistic creations. There may also sometimes be a tendency to over-indulge in life’s pleasures or towards hedonism.

The unaspected force of Mars is untamed, giving rise to sudden outbursts of temper or a lack of good control over the will-power. A great deal of focus and effort may be needed to hone the energies of this passionate planet, in a sexual nature and an aggressive sense. However, if they are harnessed and focussed well, there may be athletic abilities with a great enthusiasm and energy towards life.

Jupiter

The unaspected Jupiter may be followed by an insatiable appetite for travel, adventure or philosophical debate and discussion. The native may also be so positive at times that they fail to identify danger or the constraints of reality on them and their lives. There may be times, however, when they have access to deep and profound knowledge or wisdom that can amaze their audiences.

Saturn

A person with an unaspected Saturn can become highly ambitious while at the same time there may have been problems with too much or not enough discipline as a child from one or more parents (usually the father). There might also be a heightened sense of fear with a lot of anxiety and pessimism to overcome. Once overcome, the unaspected Saturn can bring unrivalled dedication and self-control.

Uranus

A person with an unaspected Uranus may become detached from interpersonal connections at times throughout life, while focussing on scientific, occult or social pursuits. They may become eccentric, with a progressive or individualistic streak that many can’t understand. If they fail to find topics stimulating enough to keep their interests, they may also become rebellious or radical.

Neptune

Unaspected Neptune in the natal chart may bring about a very heightened sensitivity to energetic frequencies, sights, sounds and noise. The native may also become psychically aware of other people’s thoughts and feelings, so much so that they have to retreat to be alone in order to recover. There can also be a great sense of mystery and illusion that is confusing and quite difficult to tame.

Someone an unaspected Pluto in their natal chart may have a heightened sense of awareness around social and collective frequencies, which they may be able to use cleverly to their advantage. This can be used to rise to powerful positions in society. Natives may also at times need to deal with obsessive and insatiable tendencies, especially when studying the motivations of others.
