Have you ever looked at someone who is enormously famous and wondered how on earth they got there or perused the Forbes Rich List (as you do) and thought to yourself, ‘how did they do that’? Well, although I’m not going to pretend I know the answers to these questions, but I can tell you that as an astrologer I have spent some time looking at and comparing the charts of some of these people. Add this to my learned academic astrology education and I can tell you with this that there are ways to see career and success in the natal chart. Broadly speaking, there are twelve houses in the natal chart and three of these (houses 2, 6 and 10) speak to us about the material aspects of life. In these houses we can see our relationship with money and our earning potential, our work ethic and approach to the daily routines we carry out for work and our relationship with the public sphere. All of these things contribute to our career success, not only in business but in the arts such as music and acting. Let’s have a look at some real examples. The 2nd House The second house shows us where we have the potential to earn money and through which avenues. Bill Gates, who is a co-founder of Microsoft Corporation with a net worth of $124 billion, is currently ranking fourth on Forbes’ World’s Billionaires List has Pluto conjunct Jupiter in Leo in his 2nd house. Firstly, there are two things about Pluto, Jupiter and the fire sign Leo and this is that they all like to go big while the results can be quite dramatic. Secondly, Jupiter is known astrologically as the bringer of gifts and luck, while Pluto is short for Plutocracy. He also has Uranus in his 2nd house, a planet which rules technological advancement of progressive thinking. Gordon Getty, who is famous for his net worth of $2.1 billion is from a family of oil tycoons. In his 2nd house he has Venus, Saturn, his Moon and his North Node conjunct in Aquarius, with them all forming a trine to Jupiter in his 10th house. Again, Jupiter is the planet of luck while Venus is astrology’s planet of charm and grace. Jupiter is also part of his grand square in cardinal planets, which means things just seem to happen naturally for him and they keep on happening. The cardinal grand cross is like a wheel that just keeps on turning. The 6th House The sixth house is where we will look for work practices and we can also see colleagues and those who work for us here. Jack Dorsey, who is a co-founder and CEO of Twitter has always had a great work ethic and is known to have prioritised Twitter’s uptime over financial revenue in the early days. His 6th house is ruled by Uranus, which is the planet of innovation. It is situated in his 3rd house of networking and communications. Allen Brennan is the chairman and CEO of Sears, an American mail-order department store. He started his job on the sales floor in 1966 before working up through promotions and becoming the CEO in 1980. In his 6th house he has Pluto, which forms a cardinal grand cross with Jupiter, Uranus, his Sun and Mercury. Pluto by position shows us where we an be resourceful while yielding power and strength and again, we see the motion wheel of the cardinal grand cross with the benefits of Jupiter. The 10th House The 10th house is where we can see our public image and our relationship with the wider sphere, which is necessary for us to connect with an audience or the world at large. An ability to do this can contribute to success. For example late famous singer John Lennon had his Midheaven forming a grand trine with Saturn, Jupiter and Venus. The Midheaven is the focal point of this sphere, while a grand trine is an aspect pattern in astrology that indicates ease of flow and blending of energies between the planets involved. Again, Jupiter and Venus can bestow these areas with benefits and expansion. The late Whitney Houston was a world-famous singer, regarded as one of the greatest vocalists of all time and a major icon of pop culture. She too had her Midheaven forming a grand trine with Jupiter and Venus, however unlike John Lennon she also had her Sun and Moon included as part of the grand trine. Her Midheaven was ruled by Jupiter, meaning that she found ways to expand her public awareness and persona continuously throughout her life and this is something she took advantage of.
