How we might experience the Full Moon Total Eclipse

Today’s Full Moon Total Eclipse is in Sagittarius. We know this is a total eclipse because the Mono is quite closely conjoining the South Node in Sagittarius. These are different from our general monthly full and new Moons as they are much more energetically potent and this means we may feel their effects more greatly.

Because of the potency of the effect of the Total Eclipses, we may even begin to experience their energies up to around two weeks prior to the eclipse itself, so you may have already had a sense of what this eclipse might mean for you.

What Eclipses can Mean for Us

Total Eclipses can indicate a turning point in our lives when we are urged to take some action that will ultimately help us to progress emotionally and spiritually. This is likely to happen within the areas of our lives that the eclipse falls into, which means that the houses both the Sun and Moon fall into are important for us during this time. As they are opposite one another during an eclipse, the house axis they fall into will be important. For example, if the eclipse falls across your 10th and 4th houses, then your career and publicity as will be your home and family life.

It is also true that when you have personal planets in the same sign as the Sun or the Moon is in during the eclipse, or that are in a square aspect to it, you may receive an extra push that perhaps feels more urgent and vital during the eclipse. Today the eclipse is in Sagittarius, while the Sun is in Gemini, so if you have any personal planets in these two signs, Pisces or Virgo then this is you.

Chiron’s Position

The tensions that may create an impact during today’s eclipse are supported by Chiron, which trines the South Node and sextiles the North Node from his position at 11° Aries. This means that whatever happens during this eclipse, including a few weeks before and after, will have the potential to heal, especially in the area of life indicated by your house Chiron is currently transiting through. This will be even more prominent if Chiron is aspecting any of the planets within your natal chart.

Venus is Conjoining Gemini

Venus is conjoining Mercury in Gemini in the same sign as the eclipse, so the energies of the eclipse and the house the Sun falls into in your natal chart will receive an extra helping of support due to the benefic nature of Venus. She may also bring about a helping of peacefulness, love and general ease. Mercury, while in domicile in Gemini is now in its shadow period, set to turn retrograde in three days on the 29th May. This means that communication in all its forms may be a major theme for many of us during this eclipse period. The fact that Mercury is in its shadow period could mean that we are revisiting or about to revisit something themed around communication from the past.

Uranus square Saturn

Uranus is applying into a square aspect with Saturn, nearing very close to a 1° orb, so this could potentially mean some unexpected disruption to our plans. However, Saturn is in fact forming a lovely trine aspect with the North Node and an easy sextile with Chiron, so the energies of these could very well work to mitigate any possible disruptive circumstances.

The Cradle Aspect

Looking a little closer at this configuration, I see that it is very supportive, as the Moon’s nodal axis and the Sun and the Moon, with both Chiron and Saturn are all forming what is known as a cradle aspect pattern between them. The cradle aspect pattern between planets can be very helpful, in that it means the planets have a vessel through which they can offer many blessings in the way of creative energy that has a propensity to naturally flow with ease.

Mars trine Neptune

Mars in Cancer is trining Neptune in Pisces, which means that many of us may be feeling like we are kind of ‘swimming through ethereal realms’. There may be quite an expansive, spiritual sensation about this for some or it may feel quite confusing and frustrating for others, as they realise they are finding motivation harder to come by than usual. Some situations may feel as though they are difficult to control.
