Electing a Chart for an Important Event; Hints and Tips

It is widely known that astrology can be used as an invaluable tool for choosing a date and time for the launch of important events in a person’s life. The time and date chosen by an astrologer may turn out to be very beneficial, because the positions of the transiting planets and the houses of the event chart are always taken into account.

First Steps to Take

First, a window of time must be chosen for the event because, more often than not, the client or person the event is for will have a vision in mind which means they may want to go ahead with plans over the next year or more.

The next step will usually be an initial process of elimination. This is because some months simply include too many hard aspects between malefic planets and significators, too many retrograde planets (Mercury or Saturn retrogrades are especially undesirable) or Mercury or the Sun landing in Scorpio (to avoid malefic Pluto as a dispositor).

Next, the Moon's waxing periods are best taken into account, as starting a business especially during a waning period is considered by many astrologers to be unfavourable for the growth of the business.

Strong positions of The Sun, Moon, Saturn, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter, if beneficial against the client’s natal chart, are a huge bonus. We can’t always be so picky, but it is a good idea to find as many as possible. It is a bonus to look for favourable configurations against the natal chart, including making sure house rulers relating to the event are in a good position.

The Sun and Moon

Generally, the Sun and Moon influence all aspects if the event, including its general direction, which is greatly important.

A Moon without negative aspects to other planets is ideal, with a trine or sextile to the Sun beneficial. This is because the square between the Sun and Moon can become a source of general tension, crisis or lack of productivity due to unforeseen circumstances.

A New Moon period can also be fine, although it is preferable if the Moon is later in degrees than the Sun and not too close.

It is even better if the Sun and Moon are mutually receptive, which can work to strengthening the important pair even further.

The Other Planets

Mercury

A well-positioned and strong Mercury rules and benefits many varying communication methods, literature, administration, contracts and local travel.

Venus

A well-positioned Venus is benefic, great for finances and naturally rules the 7th house of cooperation, partnership and harmony.

Mars

Mars is known amongst astrologers to be an aggressive planet if not tamed, so it is important that some consideration is given to his position. A weak or afflicted Mars can bring problems or disagreements. If well-positioned, Mars can really help with productivity and enthusiasm within the venture the event is for.

Jupiter

A well-positioned Jupiter is important as it is astrology’s greater benefic, bringing general luck, expansion, prosperity and abundance.

Saturn

A well-positioned Saturn is a natural career house ruler (10th), and can bring valuable structure, business stability and corporation strength and longevity.

Uranus

A well-positioned Uranus can be great for any venture the relates to the sciences, occultism, mysticism, psychic art or astrology especially. If Uranus is poorly positioned or afflicted, there may be a greater chance of unexpected occurrences arising that are not fully within the client’s control.

Neptune

Neptune is a planet that will be beneficial for anything that demands a certain degree of compassion, such as charity work, because Neptune rules over empathy and working for the masses towards a greater cause. Neptune is also amazing when well-placed for any artistic and creative endeavours. If afflicted, Neptune can bring uncertainty and confusion.

Pluto

Finally, Pluto has the ability to empower any other planets he comes into contact with when there is an easy aspect between them. Pluto has a great ability to both destruct and expand. If afflicted, Pluto can tend to bring disagreements or power struggles.
