Pluto, a name of black velvet, is for me the evocative power of the word "Pluto": there is the impenetrable and mysterious black of the darkest night and the changing and sensual caress of the velvet, able nevertheless to give me the shivers. The more words are ancient and immersed in history, the more they become evocative, and by listening to them, they are immediately translated into images, colours, sensations that come from unexplored regions of our mind.

And for you who is a Pluto? Leave the planet up there in the chart and pay attention to his voice that he talks to you from the inside. You will certainly discover something important.
I have chosen this way to begin to talk about Pluto because often descriptions, even the ones that have defined dimension through our experience and from some of the contents of our psyche, instead of bringing things close to their meaning, they take it away, make them flat, they take thickness and intensity out, they transform them into simple events among other events.
There are, instead, experiences, emotions, and memories that do not allow themselves to be imprisoned within the limits of a clear consequent speech, but they have words open to more senses and meanings since they come from the abysses of our psyche, where love keeps on voraciously devouring the thing we hold dear and hating and killing its rivals, like when we were children.
Pluto is the Gentleman of this world buried in the depths of our being: the world of primordial instincts, of desire without limits, passions that are not bridled by the laws of civil co-habitation; an explosive world, pure energy devoid of any kind or organisation, held under control with powerful mechanisms of defence like removal, repression and denial, which we have used for years and years to be built and to be consolidated until an irremovable barrier that has been erected between us and such a world that, although it belongs to us, we ignore.
There was a time, instead, in which this was the only known world, when our depended only on the presence of others, our needs were impetuous and pressing and the love, the anger and the envy we felt the one who had the power to throw us into the chasm, to rise us to the heights of total satisfaction, were immense and absolute.
Terrified or drunk, we passed from one state to another without continuity, then the fear of losing the love of the person we most hold dear was stronger than everything else and hawse were forced to bury and to deny anything which risked such love.
And so, within the maximum limits that each one of us has, become what, firstly our parents, and then the society, wanted us to become, and in such an image we have recognised and identified ourselves. Even more, here we are deeply attached and inextricably confused with such "roles" of the exemplary mother or the indefatigable, and woe betide having doubts or questions on the categories into which we have put the substance of our identity.

Every now and then, however, during our lifetime we meet Pluto, which opens dangerous gaps in our well tested models / roles in life. There can be treason, a diseases, a loss and therefore, once again powerless, we return to love, to hate and to want things with the same intensity of the past and invaded by blind and uncontrollable anger and strong passions, we have to acknowledge that we are also this. Our identity with the variegated roles of woman, wife, mother and others falls to pieces and we discover ourselves more and more like furious Erinni and avengers.
Before us is Pluto, the Gentleman of everything that is hidden in the bowls of the land and the psyche, waiting for our choice. In fact before us there are three roads: we can repress and remove, projecting to the outside, onto others, our passions and then the close encounter with Pluto will be even more violent and de-structuring; or we can "behave", carry out these primitive impulses and then Pluto will drag us with it into the abysses of his reign; or we can recognise them and accept them as ours and then try to integrate them and transform them into a wider consciousness. In this case the possibility is offered to us to come into contact with some parts of our unconscious that once you carry in the light of your conscience will free its whole energy to hold them at bay.
This is the treasure which Pluto gives to those who have the courage and the determination of following it into the underground reign of the psyche and then coming back victoriously to the surface of the conscience. Whatever the path we choose, Pluto, the invisible guard of the threshold, will waiting for us to pass by.
