Print article - Mercury and its karmic and evolutive valence

To understand what can activate Mercury in its karmic, and especially dharmic, evolutive, valence, comes to us from the analysis of the transits on its natal position, and specifically from those of Chiron and Uranus, the latter considered a superior octave of Mercury, or rather that it has the same valence but on a more elevated and rarefied level.

The Chiron transit in aspect to Radical mercury is a messenger of interesting acquisitions about our own knowledge, a knowledge that is often atavistic, that lies for a long time, if not preceding existence, within us and that waits for the opportunity to be able to come to light.
Very often when Mercury is retrograde in the natal chart it can be about a particular ability acquired in past lives that nevertheless has never been shown, that for a whole series of external circumstances (see natal house on which it falls) has not managed to emerge and to be lived in serenity and truthfulness. The Chiron transit in this connection acts as activator, as an able master - therapist able to bring out the creativity that is blocked within us, but in particular it helps us to understand the sense, aim, the possible spiritual and evolutive value that it possesses.

In other words the Chiron transit in aspect to Radical mercury, especially when it comes in conjunction, which happens once circa every fifty years, for each single individual represents a moment with a strong initiatory value often tied to a kind of ritual of passage in which the re-appropriation, but sometimes also the acquisition for the first time, of certain type of knowledge, opens up a new existential dimension, a different form of intellective freedom and a different way of interpreting itself before knowledge that only up to some months beforehand was arousing a kind of anxiety or at least a timorous respect.

But the same transit raises a greater awareness of our own intellective potential, sometimes pushing when it very much believes in its own knowledge, to make us feel like becoming teachers, for individuals in which a vocation for teaching is discovered, of communicating knowledge which one has mastered, thus definitively unblocking, especially when Mercury is retrograde in one’s natal chart, a karmic situation that was hampering the free attainment of what one wishes to do in life, from the most part authentically one planned to arrive long before the present existence started.

Instead, the Uranus transits in aspect to Radical mercury has a manner similar to that of Chiron, but from a practical point of view they are certainly more incisive, they act more on the level of daily reality, lead to more concrete results from an objective standpoint , giving the sensation that something has changed, that has become unblocked not only in relation to the psyche, but also and especially at a material level.
Generally these transits are messengers of great changes at work, be in relation to the type of profession and the way it is carried out, and they certainly give greater courage, in some excessive and dangerous moments (in presence of squaring and opposition), in proposing and imposing one’s own vision of things, one’s own plans, of the different way of dealing with problems that up to some moments beforehand had been faced in exactly the opposite way.

From a karmic standpoint the Uranus transit in aspect is used for giving greater self-awareness to Radical mercury, for finding the courage to destroy all contrary forces, those obstacles that at times are more psychological type than objective, that impede the free expression of one’s own intelligence, creativity, of being able to bring forth, with simplicity, all the abilities acquired in past existences that nevertheless lie blocked and unexpressed because of absurd fears, mental schemes that are the result of a disesteem of ourselves or of rigid family and social conditionings that act as deterrent even in regard to the least creative act.

also if in different fields, when the Uranus transit is in aspect to Mercury radix it is probable that there could also be an unblocking of our own emotionality, or better still it may be that certain mental schemes acquired in the first relationships in this life, or inherited from a previous existence, could dissolve and leave some space for a different way of loving, freer and certainly more in syntony with ourselves, with the most authentic part of our Soul.
