The Sun in the Earth Signs

THE SUN IN TAURUS

if you try to think of a Taurus, a huge and powerful animal with a compact body and slow movements will appear to you in an instant, intent on grazing with its head down, or else it will be the blind and rabid strength of the beast that explodes in the sand. In any case an image of huge power and ungovernable strength. In fact the hero of the Taurus does not travel lightly, stumbling at each step through the intensity of the powerful instinctive passions that sway in his heart and hold he firmly contained in his little field and to what grows inside.
But his solar myth forces him to be cleared of all the bags full of the things piled up by cupidity, by possessiveness and the limited and narrow vision that his exclusively personal world offers him. The labour, in his journey, is in overcoming, in getting over his tendency for possessiveness and selfishness: to always turn away, engulf, and to keep everything back is something our hero finds a way to do. The treasure is not far, it will be enough for him to try and to find his real personal resources so that the sun will allow him to develop a strong sense of internal security that will make him independent and removed from what he possesses to the outside.
It is a long road supported and comforted by inner certainty, which will accompany him outside of his world only for what he or can become. he must leave behind his natural blinkers, which imprisons him in the cupidity and chains of his little world where it does not let in anything from the outside, but to which he clings desperately and for which he often finishes losing everything. This is the story of Minos that for his insatiable avidity and longing also took what did not belong to him and ended up losing the wife and creating the Minotaur, a monster still more unrestrainedly avid than him. Too many Taurus people are condemned to a loss, to abandonment and a lot of suffering because at all costs they want to keep what does not belong to them.
His journey involves being able to distinguish the being from the property, a distinction that our hero can make only if develops a healthy structure of values to guide him in the choice of objectives.
It is part of his mission to learn to understand that not everything can be kept back, that not everything belongs to him and that when it does not belong to us, he must let it go; only what we have inside is really ours and we cannot lose it.
The hero of the Taurus, who is strong and resistant, will have to overcome his strong propensity for materiality, his inertia and difficulty to accept change and differences, and with humility he will have to recognise his dark side. It is only by taking this path that he will be able to be open to the world and finally to listen to the numerous opinions, to see different landscapes and enrich himself.
In a certain sense the sign of the Taurus is a contradiction in terms, in fact from an archetype point of view the Taurus represents the overturned truth of the power to the female, correspondent to the phase of matriarchy when the humanity completely ignorant of its power was in complete power of the nature, a nature that was nutritious and protective as a mother, r and as destructive and cruel as a stepmother. It is going back to this universal and ancestral human experience that we can see the tendency of the Taurus to engulf and to keep everything that life gives him back. His glyph on the other hand, a male animal, is a symbol of fertility and fecundity, an animal whose build underlines its huge nucleus of strength, its resistance and aggressiveness, that if it is not recognised and identified at conscious level is transformed into longing and possessiveness. Together, female and male components of they put in highlight the characteristics of warmth, and affectivity that are certainly present in the sensuality of the Taurus, and at the same time they indicate that such qualities are present on his most powerful, and difficult to control instincts, such as possessiveness, anger, jealousy, irrationality, accompanied at times by obstinacy and obtuseness.
And then since nobody is born a hero, but you have to become one instead, during his journey our Taurus and stubborn hero, must learn to see hardly everything and not only what he wants, which often coincides with not seeing and therefore to leave things that disturb him and in which he has no interest outside of his life; he will have to learn to control his instincts by resorting to something inside him, a system of values which he can rely on to avoid becoming easy prey to external longing; he will have to learn not to count only "his" things, but that above all his certainties count, the only ones that allow him to recognise what does not belong to him and what makes him really free.

THE SUN IN VIRGO

A little great hero, he is the hero who is born to grow under the sign of the Virgo. A little great hero, who will not experience particular events that put him in the limelight, because his journey does not ask for extraordinary and showy heroic acts, but for a slow, hard necessary drive on uphill slopes, paths that do not offer shady and cool places to rest, but that demand patient and methodical daily work.
The sign of the Virgo summarises the first six sectors of the zodiac; it is a sign of integration, symbolically very complex, because it has the task either of integrating and summarising meanings and the experiences of this first part of the zodiac at the centre of the construction of the uniqueness and separation of an individual personality, or of preparing the next cycle, of putting down the foundation from which he will have to push to develop the relationship of a person who is by now individualised, with another, with the social side, with the whole universe.
Therefore, our little great hero, who is at the same time the beginning and the end of a cycle, has a quite an arduous task to absolve: nothing unfinished must stop or suspend his actions. He must recognise his limits in a practical way, to sound out, to try and refine his real abilities and resources, and he must realistically complete things and say “I must, I can …” and at the same time to agree to and get ready to move the own barycentre of the I to the We. And since it is through a comparison with others, the duties, and the difficulties of the daily life that he discovers and knows such things instinctively, our diligent hero will easily be accompanied on his way with a sense of constant inadequacy that he will have to learn to solve through facing things. And how is it possible not to be afraid to lose important details along the way, might anything that seems futile prove to be instead substantial?
Thus it is necessary not to aim to do one’s best, for perfection, and therefore our little hero checks, discriminates, excessively, does not want to forget anything, but since it is impossible to see everything and to feel everything, his tension and anxiety of control and perfection increases to a point of unrestraint, making him constantly unsatisfied of everything that, vivisected in fine detail, instead of becoming a reason, a drive to action, becomes a powerful cause of inactivity and frustration.
These are the risks and the dangers on which our hero can stumble and become bad, because in this way he loses the possibility of forming a global and perspective vision of reality, because he is only attached to practical and demonstrable things and eliminates the things produced by his imagination, which show a mind with lightness and adventurous spirit. The aspiration to perfection that the Virgo pursues bangs it head each day against the inexorable reality of the own body that, in spite of infinite sagacity, inexorably deteriorates and corrupts.
The integrity, the precious treasure that the little great hero of the Virgo will find at the end of his journey, is an inner integrity, which does not need innumerable controls, examinations, cautions, whether external and internal, to remain intact.

THE SUN IN CAPRICORN

The Capricorn is the highest sign of the zodiac and at this solitary and crystalline height the hero of the Capricorn must arrive, to look at troubles far down, far below, where there is the soft and enveloped house of the Cancer with its attractive sweetness and gratifying protection. His is a steep and rocky road, where it is only possible to look ahead, otherwise he will not see the protrusions of the rocks where he needs to rest, and he may easily lose his balance.
There is an arduous, difficult and hard journey that our hero must complete, who must reach the top and occupy his place in the world, who must conquer his own autonomy and personal independence, and in order to attain this he must his little by little abandon the protection, values, and everything that he has been told ad brought up with. He will have to turn his back, in a certain sense to "betray" this great collective sense whose voice he was accustomed to listening to, and only to developing his own individuality in order to directly take responsibility for his life.
The Capricorn is a sign that always brings something privative with it, a sense of renunciation of the drift with his governing planet g, Saturn, and it represents the price that somehow or other must be paid for his attempt to face each personal experience by relying only on his own forces. Our hero will need to become very strong to be able to succeed in his intention, and he will need a lot of time and much effort to find such strength, because his nature has led him, during childhood, to protect himself from difficult situations by building walls and barriers that he could hide behind and that could support him.
Thus, our hero has initially faced life hidden and protected behind an external mask, but over time this protective mask has become more and more rigid and choking, and it has ended up imprisoning him in his immobile physiognomy, as well as his more authentic I which in this way has become the victim of a tyrannical and inflexible super-I, which gives nothing to itself or even to others.
Our hero will need the time of the Capricorn to grow, to demolish walls and masks, and to enter into true contact with himself, with his strength and weakness. The symbol of the knees that belongs to the Capricorn, represents the fact that to rise on one’s feet it is necessary beforehand to kneel, tin the same way a child does before walking with two legs, who must first must walk with four. The original wound that each Capricorn contains has jealously inside of, it will be necessary to reopen, to allow the child who was once mortified and blocked to grow. When this process will be completed our hero of the Capricorn will be able to complete his journey, to realise his autonomy and his independence completely, and to develop by relying only on his own forces, becoming able to tolerate in others what nobody had tolerated in him.
The most representative myth of this sign is the Azazel myth, a Hebrew god originally united with Javè, which following separated by Javè, will personify the scapegoat forced to take on all the sins of the people of Israel against the Javè laws, and then, alone and roving it will wander in the desert feeling desperate. The symbolism of the deserted one is always present in Capricorn myths, and also in the Greek myth of Cronos/Saturn, another myth tied to the Capricorn, Cronos is forced to go down to the Tartar desert; these places represent a kind of mistaking vagabond, a painful and necessary step that it is necessary to take before being able to be in contact with life, in his reasons and in his the essence.
Only when he will have passed through these desolate places that represent the personal darkness that each one of us goes behind, will the strict hero Capricorn manage to dismantle the Tyrannical and judging structure on which he initially forged his identity. There will be a particular experience which will make him ductile, and teach him to appreciate life and make him believe that in the morning the sun also rises for him.
